Oplichtvisjes

Mijn Buick LeSabre staat te koop op Marktplaats. Mooie auto, goede prijs, maar dat terzijde.

Gisteren kreeg ik een bod van ene ‘bvaugan9’, precies de vraagprijs.
Ik reageer in een e-mailtje dat ik het bod een redelijk bod vind en dat we er wat mij betreft verder mee kunnen. Daarop ontvang ik de volgende e-mail:

Thanks for accepting my offer, Am okay with the price, so i want you to understand me well as i will arrange for the pick up, and payment will be made via PayPal, so get back to me with your PayPal email address for me to make the transfer into your account and after i make the payment i would tell my shipping company to come and pick it up at your address once you receive the payment into your PayPal account i want you to know that cash on collection or bank transfer will not be possible for me,in fact i would have love to come and view what am buying, but i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work,phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it.I insisted on paypal because i don’t have access to my bank account online as i don’t have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank account attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email address so i can make the payments asap I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the item up after i have made the payment.

I want you to provide me with the following information for me to proceed with the Payment…

Nu weet ik niet wat jij denkt wanneer je dit leest, maar ik heb meer dan een vermoeden dat iemand mij gaat proberen op te lichten. Waarom?

• Nergens in de tekst wordt ook maar een woord gerept over de auto, typisch voor spammers die één tekst voor alles gebruiken. Aan de auto wordt gerefereerd als ‘the item’ en ‘it’
• Ongezien een auto kopen, voor de vraagprijs (€6.500) en deze laten ophalen door een transportbedrijf?
• Meneer kan niet internetten maar heeft wat tijd ‘uitgeperst’ om mijn advertentie te zien en op mijn advertentie te reageren. Maar blijkbaar tijd genoeg online om mijn advertentie te vinden.
• Mijn adres is blijkbaar ook niet nodig…

Nou is dit soort gedoe uiteraard irritant, maar blijkbaar trappen mensen hier nog altijd in. Je moet je bedenken dat oplichters wellicht duizenden van dit soort bedingen doen, en het hoeft maar heel af en toe te werken om een hoop geld te verdienen.

De gegevens die gevraagd worden heb ik hem gegeven. Ik wil namelijk zien wat de volgende stappen worden. Ergens gaat de man mij straks om bankgegevens vragen met als doel mijn rekening te plunderen. Ik wil wel eens zien hoe hij dat voor elkaar wil krijgen en stuurde hem de volgende e-mail:
